During your time at Kalu Yala the option to learn Spanish is available to help ease your transition to the Panamanian jungle. Learn more details and what is involved below.
You can take a 7-week Spanish course if you are at the Valley or in San Miguel. It’s the perfect way to improve or jump-start your Spanish in the shortest time possible. The course will meet 2 hrs/week in the afternoon and offers a combination of intensive class time and cultural immersion to ensure quick and effective language learning.
During the Kalu Yala Program, you’ll find that several members of our staff and other interns speak Spanish, and so do most Panamanians that you’ll interact with. Spanish is imperative if you want to live the full study abroad experience, and Kalu Yala has made it possible on site.
Our teacher, Luis Henríquez, aims to create a relaxed learning environment and provide individual support and guidance to students to ensure they learn as much as possible in the shortest possible time. You’ll be provided all materials necessary to work during and between classes, and you’ll be encouraged to communicate as much as possible using real Spanish.
Though verbal communication is emphasized, the course incorporates speaking, listening, reading and writing.
Before starting, you will be placed in a group according to your level. There are two levels available: beginners 1 and intermediate 1 (A1 and B1 in the Common European Framework for Languages).
